Just hours after revealing her dad had lost his battle with cancer, Vanessa Hudgens stepped out in front of millions and dazzled in Fox’s Grease: Live on Sunday night.
The 27-year-old former “High School Musica”l star performed as Betty Rizzo and dedicated the show in “honor” of her father, Greg, who died Saturday.
She wrote: “I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers.”
The brave actress joined a star-studded cast including Julianne Hough, Jessie J and Carly Rae Jepsen for the live musical event, based on the original 1971 musical “Grease.
Early figures suggest Fox’s first attempt at a live TV musical have been a success with critics raving about the show.
But the biggest praise of the night was for Hudgens with many celebrating her courage on Twitter, especially after she gave a flawless performance of “There Are Worse Things I Could Do.”
