There is no doubt that Lady Gaga is a good performer, but if you had any lingering doubts as to whether she is a good singer, then her rendition of the National Anthem at last night’s Super Bowl 50 probably dismissed them with the quickness.
The often outrageous pop singer delivered an amazing performance of the notoriously difficult National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Gaga joins the ranks of a select few who have done the Anthem justice – Whitney Houston, whose 1991 Super Bowl rendition was released as a single, and Marvin Gaye who infused soul into the patriotic song during the 1983 NBA All-Star Game.
Over the years, many singers (and comedians –Roseanne Barr!) have proven that the Spangled Banner is easily mangled. In 2011 even Christina Aguilera flubbed the lyrics and had to issue an apology after fan backlash reached critical heights.
