Troubled musician Sinead O’Connor sparked suicide fears after posting a note on Facebook claiming she had taken an overdose.
Police were called after the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer wrote:
“I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name If I wasn’t posting this, my kids and family wouldn’t even find out.
Was dead for another fortnight since none of them bother their hole with me for a minute.
I could have been dead here for weeks already and they’d never have known.”
I’m such a rotten horrible mother and person, that I’ve been alone. Howling crying for weeks.
More than 2,000 people commented on her post and many of her followers called the authorities to check on her
Police later confirmed the 48-year-old mother-of-four had been found and was safe.
It is not the first time O’Connor has allegedly attempted to take her own life.
The Irish singer has spoken candidly about her mental health issues in the past and had told Oprah Winfrey in 2007 she’d attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday in 1999.
Then a series of suicidal tweets from the star in 2011 also attracted a visit from police.
