Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump today and said a Trump presidency would mean ‘no more pussyfootin.’
The one-time vice presidential candidate joined the Republican front-runner on the campaign trail on Tuesday evening in Iowa after offering him her endorsement earlier in the day.
Talking at the Iowa rally, the former Alaska Gov. delivered a raucous speech and said: “Our troops deserve the best, you deserve the best.
‘He’s from private sector, not a politician. Can I get a Hallelujah?’
Palin, whose son Track is a veteran, then told the troops to ‘hang in there, help is on the way,’ and asked the audience, ‘Are you ready for a commander in chief who will let warriors do their job and go kick ISIS’ a**?’
Ahead of the event Palin released a statement offering her support to Trump and said she was ‘proud to endorse Donald J Trump’.
Responding Trump said he was ‘greatly honored by Sarah’s endorsement’.
He added she was a ‘friend and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for’.
He went on to say he was ‘proud to have her support’.
The official endorsement will be followed by a joint appearance on Wednesday morning in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The backing could prove pivotal for Trump in Iowa, where he’s deadlocked with Ted Cruz in a battle to win the February 1 caucuses.
Palin, a tea party favorite since 2008, has spoken warmly of Cruz in the past and her backing of Trump could blunt the Texas senator’s momentum in the final weeks before voting.
