Singer, songwriter, Meghan Trainor rushed to the defense of fellow female musician Jennifer Lopez following the backlash over Lopez recording the song “Ain’t Your Mama” with the producer Ke$ha is in legal battles with over sexual abuse -Dr. Luke.
Lopez debuted the song on last week’s American Idol finale and fans expressed their disapproval on social media.
Apparently Trainor wrote the song and Dr. Luke worked on its production years before Ke$ha filed any lawsuits.
“I felt terrible when Jennifer got all the hate for [“Ain’t Your Mama”], and it’s just all ridiculous,” Trainor says, insisting, “[It was] not fair on her, not at all. I texted her the song and she had no idea—she thought I did it alone by myself at my house, which a lot of people think because I do do that.”
“I sent it to her and said, ‘Do you like the song?’ and she said, ‘I love the song, my kid loves the song — he’s made me play it five times already so I know it’s a hit — when can I cut it?’, so I said immediately, ‘Whenever you want!'”
Ironically the song is about female empowerment. Not so ironically, Trainor, Lopez and Dr. Luke are all under the umbrella of Sony umbrella, so economics would’ve trumped ethics anyway.
Basically Trainor is saying, don’t hate the players, hate the game or rather the label.
