Bill Cosby will face trial in his sexual assault case after a judge rejected his request for a dismissal.
Despite the 78-year-old comedian’s legal team’s efforts to get the case tossed out, on Wednesday a judge shot down Cosby’s motions in the case.
Cosby’s lawyer had argued he had a promise from the former D.A. in Philadelphia that Cosby would not be prosecuted for allegedly sexually assaulting Andrea Constand.
But prosecutors argued the former D.A. had no legal authority to make that secret agreement, which Cosby and his attorneys never got in writing.
The judge agreed and now the case will move forward with a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled to begin in about a month.
