After a four-year hiatus, Adele’s performance at this year’s Grammy Awards should have been the highlight of the show.
But the 27-year-old singer was left red-faced and dissapointed after her performace of “All I Ask” was ruined by sound problems.
The singer took to the stage towards the end of the night, but disaster struck when a a microphone fell onto the strings of the accompanying piano.
‘The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that’s what the guitar sound was,’ explained the star in a rare tweet after the show.
‘It made it sound out of tune. S*** happens.’
A CBS spokesperson confirmed there was a five-to-eight second technical issue with the broadcast, adding without elaboration that it was outside the network’s control.
But the the sound issues did not stop with Adele, with Justin Bieber’s subsequent set also beset with problems.
More disappointment and drama came earlier when Rihanna cancelled her performance on doctor’s orders just minutes before the show began and Lauryn Hill also bailed on a planned duet with The Weeknd.
